Mental health struggles are not your fault.

As with other serious health challenges, mental health conditions are not your fault or that of the people around you. However, misunderstandings about mental health are still common. Many people don’t seek support or may not realize that what they’re experiencing could be related to their mental health. Some expect someone facing significant mental health challenges to appear obviously different, and they may tell a person who doesn’t “look unwell” to simply “get over it” through willpower. These misconceptions can make things even harder for people navigating their mental health.

Every year, people work through mental health challenges and continue to do the things they enjoy. By developing and following a care or support plan, many symptoms can improve significantly. People with mental health conditions pursue higher education, build successful careers, form meaningful friendships, and have fulfilling relationships. Mental health challenges may slow us down at times, but they don’t have to stop us.

Diagnosed With A Mental Health Condition

Unlike diabetes or cancer there is no medical test that can provide a diagnosis of a mental health condition, but getting a diagnosis is a useful step in receiving effective treatment and improving your quality of life.
